‘Twas the day before Christmas,![]()
But here in Hong Kong
I was out working
near MTR Kowloon Tong.
Teaching Lego robots to children -
Kids’ of the Chinese -
Whose lips’ rarely utter
Any ‘Thank you’ or ‘Please.”
And then off to join in fun
With my roommate Mao.
His phone never answered:
No surprise, anyhow.
So to campus I returned
Possibilities for a nap,
Then spent three hours in the band room
Drumming A-RAT-TA-TAT-TAT.![]()
I taught David Liu some new rhythms,
Basic roll and some fills,
And how to count music,
Much to his thrill.
Then off to prepare
For an evening in town
Where fireworks would sparkle
And drinks we would down.
Meeting classmates on the way
Our haste we did squander,
Rather than revel in fireworks
For a view we just wandered.
Following, towards LKF,
Wanting dinner un-had,
There was one goal in mind:
Ebenezer’s turkish kebab.
After eating we met up with![]()
So many more friends
That finding bar room for all
Was a task with out end,
With the streets cordoned off,
Crowded streets police fear,
No place seemed quite suitable
To share a holiday beer.
The LKF holiday scene is a bit crazy,
With kids following parents there and here,
Proving that Santa’s China working Visa
Was denied again this year.
So with work coming early,
Yes – on Christmas – it is true,
I left the group for some sleep:
A worthwhile pursuit.
So I rode the train home,
Passing Jean and a friend,
and arrived at Choi Hung,
With no bus and no friends.
There was a line for 11s,
To campus right quick,
But the length of the line
Caused one utterance: @&%$!
A Christmas miracle was needed,
To coax mini buses to land,
And in walked the best mini-bus coaxer,
Mr. John ‘Lennon’ Chan.
Three buses came quickly,
While the hour was eleven forty three
“Hello, John! Merry Christmas!” I said.
Which he returned back to me.
Now it’s time for some sleep,
As I’ll need lots of rest,
To perform Christmas Miracles Tomorrow,
And to be at my best,
As after a morning of work
It’s off to the coast
For Christmas wake-boarding action:
Another worthy blog post!
With this nearly done,
Get good sleep, I just might,
I’ll bid a warm “Merry Christmas to all:
And to all a good night.”

Finals are finished! After a long and grueling semester of getting myself back into the academic groove, learning about 2 years of math courses I’ve never taken, and reviewing those which I haven’t studied for going on 8 years now, I’m finally afforded the breathing room and free time to relax and get back to these colorful updates!
