Harbour reclamation reached new grounds long ago, with the IFC and movement of the ferry piers, development of the new bypass (see insert that’s filled with cars!) to get from central to admiralty faster, and of course, putting up new skyscrapers over what formerly was water.
The question becomes, how do you build a skyscraper over water? Well, it takes a big honkin’ shovel that’s lowered into a giant cravasse (filled with mighty juice), that reaches deep into said cravasse in order to pull just a little more out to go deeper an deeper.
This morning I was yet again mesmerized by the movement, and managed to capture it on video – to illustrate to all what interesting things you can experience on a walk from the ferry piers into the office.
